Hi Sis Why thank you you look marvelous yourself. Alex is sleeping...and they are Jehovah Witness, so they do not partake in Halloween. His older sister was trying to peek at the kids in costume....

One of my relatives does not allow his kids to participate in Halloween. The poor kids can't even celebrate Christmas because there is no Santa Claus. They are home schooled. What a shock these poor kids are in for when they have to go into the real world and live. My heart breaks for them and we always give them presents for no occasions, since they can't have any for occasions.

The 8 year old was caught asking what I was going to buy her for her birthday...her parents reminded her that they do not celebrate birthdays...but her one grandpa is Baptist...so he always sends gifts for birthdays and Christmas...I usually do but told her I would double up for Christmas...her mom buys me stuff...I usually get the parents a restaurant and movie gift cards and tell them I will babysit too when they go out...they don't refuse...

My weirdo relatives are Baptist also but some sect I've never heard of. No Santa Claus??? Halloween is considered the devil's holiday. It is all very sick and I can't discuss anything with them or I would lose my cool. I chew my tongue so I can do things for the poor kids. The mother waited years to have the second batch of kids and the oldest girl is a free live in nanny. I'd better shut up, I'm about to start pounding my keyboard and sputtering. She has her husband wrapped around her little finger. She makes him (orders him) to beat the kids. Every time I see them I look for bruises. The first time I see one I am calling CPS. The kids are trained to be very closed mouthed about their family. Sad. Sick.

I've never heard of not celebrating birthdays. How sad.

There are different sects of Baptist...some are so strict, they don't even allow dancing....To me Halloween means casing evil spirits away...not letting them in...I got married on Halloween 17 years ago today. Some people freaked...some asked why Halloween...I just laughed and said we were going to sacrifice a live goat on the altar...others asked if they could come in costume... I said "No, but I get to dress like a bride"...The 8 year old hates sleeping alone, so many weekends, she sleeps with me...of course I tell her she needs mom and dad's okay first...Even when we were neighbors...before Alex was born...she would spend nights at my apartment. We'd call it our little slumber party and we would each get a spoon and eat ice cream out of the carton...she loved it. I asked her if my smile was pretty tonight (because I also had a porcelain filling replaced)...she said my smile was pretty before, and even last night with the broken tooth. When she explains me to people that haven't met me...she refers to me as her aunt. I don't agree with their religion...but we have a certain acceptance about our different beliefs...it's worked for over 3 years living together.

I know...I did a self effectiveness training...and they taught us to celebrate ourselves and what a contribution we are to the world/those around us....and what better way to celebrate that, than on your birthday...

Wiping down surfaces from red velvet cake and picking up tons of candy wrappers....a quick vacuum sweep and Swiffer wet mop on the bare floors. Getting coffee/espresso ready for NC and the rest of the morning crowd.

This was my 8 year old roommate, Jenahlee playing with emoticons and making her little story. Her mom is on a 12 hour shift, care giving.
