The TREMBULAK Children - Five from 1 to 7 yo - Pittsburgh PA
PITTSBURGH -- Police in Pittsburgh
said a mother of five was arrested after she left her children home
alone late at night in the city's Lawrenceville area.Police said
they were called to a home in the 5300 block of Holmes Street late
Sunday night because of a call about concerns for the well-being of a
number of children. When officers arrived just after midnight, they
found five children, ages 1 to 7, alone in the home.According to
the criminal complaint, when officers arrived, a 7-year-old boy answered
the door. When police asked where his mother was, he told them he
didn't know but that she wasn't there. The boy said that his mother left
shortly after 10 p.m., something he said she'd done on previous
occasions.Police said the boy's twin sister was in the living
room watching television. Three other boys, a 4-year-old, 3-year-old and
1-year-old, were all asleep upstairs.
The boy told officers that his mother, 33-year-old Sharon
Trembulak, left her cell phone to call in case of an emergency. Officers
said when they called Trembulak, she hung up.Around 12:15 a.m.,
Trembulak arrived home with her boyfriend, Casey Zychowicz, and she told
police she was "gone for less than 10 minutes" prior to receiving the
phone call from her son.Trembulak told police she went to pick up
her boyfriend at a pizzeria on 45th Street where he works. Police said
Zychowicz could not give a definitive time when she arrived to pick the
man up, but that the earliest it could have been was 11 p.m. He also
told police he didn't know the kids were left alone.Channel 4
Action News' Marcie Cipriani reported that Trembulak was arraigned and
released on her own recognizance Monday. The kids are in their father's
care while Trembulak awaits a court hearing next week on five counts of
endangering the welfare of children."I'm surprised her baby
sitter wasn't there, because she would never leave them by themselves.
She's not that kind of a mother," neighbor Debbie Pekich said.Trembulak's
aunt, who lives in Troy Hill, told Channel 4 Action News reporter Amber
Nicotra that Trembulak "is a really good mom" and her current case is a
big misunderstanding.Nobody answered the door when Nicotra went to the suspect's home on Monday morning.
