"Baby John" HAZZARD - 3 Months - East Liberty (E Pittsburgh) PA

An East Liberty woman who police said left her 3-month-old son on a
porch in subfreezing temperatures Monday night was charged early today
with child endangerment, Pittsburgh police said.

Officers served an arrest warrant on Shonice Hazzard, 19, who police
said left the boy, wearing only a filthy diaper, outside a home in the
500 block of North Beatty Street. She was also charged with reckless
endangerment.

Another woman found the child and took him to the Allegheny County
911 Center, where paramedics were called. Doctors at Children's Hospital
of UPMC of Pittsburgh said the boy suffered severe diaper rash but
appeared otherwise unharmed.

Ms. Hazzard was taken to the Allegheny County Jail, where her bond was set at $25,000, court records show.
