JESSE CONNOR DORSCH - 2 yo (2010) - Delta (SE of Grand Junction) CO

27-year-old Lukus J. Koch of Delta was
arrested January 12th on a warrant charging him with child abuse
resulting in death.



The charge is a class two felony.The warrant
alleges that Koch's actions resulted in the death of two-year-old Jesse
Connor Dorsch. Jesse was pronounced dead at the Delta County Memorial
Hospital on November 27, 2010 from injuries he sustained while in the
care of Koch.Koch’s bond has been set at $150,000.00.The
arrest is the result of an intensive investigation conducted by the
Delta County Sheriff’s Office and the 7th Judicial District Attorneys
office.

DELTA, Colo. (KKCO) - New details are coming to light in the case of a Grand Junction man accused
of killing his girlfriend 2-year-old son.
Lukas Koch, 28, is being held on a $150,000 bond in the death of Jesse Dorsch.
According to an arrest affidavit, the child died of
blunt force trauma to the stomach. A doctor said it looked like “a
sudden loss of control and a classic case of child abuse.”
The affidavit says Koch was watching Jesse the day he died and never called 911 or took him to the
hospital to get help. Koch told authorities the boy seemed fine all
day, and they had wrestled and he had tossed Jesse on the couch and that’s how he got hurt.
The affidavit states Koch changed his story more than
once and tried to kill himself. He is expected to be formally charged next week.

A Delta man accused of killing a toddler has agreed to a plea deal.
In court Monday morning, Lukas Koch pleaded guilty to negligant child abuse, a class three felony.
Koch was arrested back in January in the death of 2-year-old Jesse Dorsch.
The Delta County Coroner said the toddler died of blunt force trauma which led to fatal internal bleeding.
He will be sentenced next month.

Twenty years is not enough for the man who killed her 2-year-old son, Jesse, said Delta-area mom Ashley Dorsch.

“I
live a life sentence every day without my son, and he gets 20 years,”
she said Monday, shortly before Lukus Koch was formally sentenced to the
prison term called for in a plea agreement.

He pleaded guilty in July to fatal child abuse caused by neglect.

“I never hurt Jesse intentionally,” Koch said, in a courtroom charged
with raw emotion from Dorsch’s family and his own. “I don’t agree with
the way the law is, but I understand it. I am guilty of neglect. I would
do anything to change it.”
