Eilzabeth (Beth) was last seen 1/5/11. Beth was babysitting the night of 1/4/11 and last spoke with her mom about 8pm. She was dropped off out side her home about 1:30am 1/5/11. The family that dropped her off realized Beth had left her purse in the car so the family brought it back to the house about 10-15 mins later. That is when it was discovered that Beth never made it into the house. Beth is 15 y/o and is currently on medication for a mood disorder. Beth did not have her cell phone, her purse, no clothes were missing from her room and she was not wearing a heavy coat that evening. Beth has been with out her medication since 1/4/11. Her famliy filed a police report on 1/5/11 and has attempted to communicate with the local police dept daily. Posters have been circulated and Text messages sent as well as many postings on family and friends facebook accounts. Facebook has created a page Find Elizabeth Ennen-Missing in Texas, Every time the family has contacted the local media they were advised that the local police dept has to release it first. Beth's mom has contacted The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children site and filed a report there. The local media just pick up Beth's story on 1/17/11 and another channel ran an interview with Beth's mom and aunt on 1/18/11. Very little media coverage has been allowed or offered.
Beth as been listed as an Endangered Runaway and it seems that because she is classified as a "Runaway", little attention is being paid to a missing girl. Currently the news is covering Hailey Dunn (Colorado City about 1 1/2 hours south/east of Lubbock) and she was also classified as a "Runaway" as well as a young girl a few years ago Joanna Rogers (Lubbock) who was also classified as a runaway. TIme is being wasted and is to precious for us to continue to sit back and do the very minimum because of how these girls are classified...MISSING IS MISSING. Beth's Family still has more questions than anwers...WE JUST WANT HER HOME. ITS BEEN WAY TOO LONG.

Lubbock Mom Begs for Help Searching for"Endangered" Runaway
Reported by: Stephanie Berzinski
15-year-old Elizabeth Ennen went missing January 5th, 2011. Ennen was babysitting for close family friends at the Carriage House Motel that night. She was then dropped off by those friends at her home near 42nd and Avenue L at 1:30 in the morning. We're told she left her purse inside the car so the family went to return it to her, only to find out she never went inside her home. Ennen is also without her medication for a mental disorder. Her family fears the worst and they said not much has been done by authorities to help find their teenage daughter.
"There's times I do and times I don't," said Virginia Ennen, Elizabeth's mother. "Some of the time I feel like it was just being pushed to the side because they classified her as a runaway."
"You know a 15 year old girl, no purse, no cell phone, no clothes, she wasn't even wearing a heavy coat why aren't we looking harder?" asked Mary, Elizabeth's aunt.
If you know anything about Elizabeth Ennen's where abouts please call the Lubbock Police Department at 775-2873.

Re: ELIZABETH ENNEN - 15 yo - Lubbock TX
Was anyone else at the house when she was dropped home? If no one was or they didn't hear her knocking and she found herself locked out without phone or money at 1.30am she most likely decided to knock on a neighbors door or if she had a friend living nearby she could have decided to walk to their house. I hope LE have gone house to house in her neighborhood and done a thorough search of them. It was odd there was no sign of her on'y 15 minutes later so she may have already been inside a neighbors house by then. Or if she was walking to a friends she must have been picked up by a car. I can't imagine she decided to run away on the spur of the moment at 1.30 am. Obviously LE have her phone and would know if she had arranged to meet someone or go somewhere.

Elizabeth Ennen 'Endangered': Police investigating another missing Texas teen
snipped.....
Elizabeth babysat the children at the Carriage House Motel where her boyfriend's family was living at the time, he said. The Carriage House Motel is located just off Hwy 27 and the 289 Loop.
After babysitting, Elizabeth was dropped off in front of her home late at night, around 1:30 a.m. Her home is located near the corner of 42nd and Avenue L, about seven miles north of the motel.
Elizabeth reportedly forgot her purse in the car. When the people she babysat for noticed the purse, they went to return it to her.
That’s when they learned Elizabeth never made it inside her house, and she was reported missing shortly after by her mother, Virginia Ennen. Police classified her case a "runaway."
The Center of Missing and Exploited Children have listed Elizabeth as an "endangered runaway" on their website.
Elizabeth vanished without her purse, cell phone, medication, coat, or any of her personal items. It was reported temperatures dipped into the high 20s in Lubbock that night

Police search for missing Lubbock girl, arrest suspect

A Lubbock man was charged with kidnapping a 15-year-old girl
who was for weeks listed as a runaway, Lubbock police announced
Saturday.
Authorities Saturday were searching for Elizabeth Ennen, 15, after
they believe she was kidnapped Jan. 5 during a baby-sitting job at the
Carriage House motel in Southeast Lubbock, said Lubbock police Capt.
Greg Stevens.
Ennen is described as white, about 5 feet, 3 inches tall, about 135 pounds with sandy blonde hair and brown eyes.
Police late Friday arrested 45-year-old Humberto Maldonado Salinas
Jr. on a count of aggravated kidnapping in connecting with Ennen’s
disappearance.
Police initially listed Ennen as a runaway after her mother reported
her missing on January 5. The 15-year-old did not return home after a
baby-sitting job at the motel.
Stevens said police found evidence leading investigators to believe
Ennen was kidnapped by Salinas, though Stevens would not release details
about the evidence.
Salinas is a relative of Ennen’s boyfriend and was a resident of the
Carriage House in the 900 block of East Slaton Road, Stevens said. He
wouldn’t confirm if Ennen’s baby-sitting job involved Salinas or his
room at the motel.
Salinas was in the Lubbock County Detention Center Saturday in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Police urge anyone with information about Ennen to call Lubbock
police person crimes detectives at 775-2788 or Crime Line at 741-1000.
Callers may remain anonymous.

No child should ever be assumed to be a runaway. Any assumptions made should lean toward protecting and searching for the child.
Runaways end up murdered all too often. They frequently end up being abused, being forced into prostitution and worse.

I agree Twink, but I guess there is literally not enough manpower or money to throw 40 police into investigating every teenager who disappears. Let's face it, the majority of the time they are runaways, and yes, they put themselves in grave danger, but LE can't be parents to these kids and go out looking for them all the time. Most of the time LE get it right and can identify the ones who have disappeared as a result of a crime. I'm surprised they classified Elizabeth as a runaway though, given the unusual circumstances. But maybe ironically she had gone missing before or something.

Ennen’s family reported her missing after she didn’t come home from babysitting for Salinas at the Carriage House, 912 E. Slaton Road. Police initially classified her as a runaway, but announced this weekend they believed she’d been kidnapped on Jan. 5.

Dead body found near Shallowater; could be that of missing girl
Lubbock police found the body of a young white female near County Road 1700 and Farm Road 1729 Monday evening.
Captain Greg Stevens of the Lubbock Police Department says the identity will not be released until confirmed by the medical examiner.
"However, given the circumstances right now, we have notified the family of Elizabeth Ennen. Again, I don't want to draw that conclusion, that this is her. However, we do not have any other outstanding missing person reports that significantly match the description of the body that we found," Stevens said.
