GUTHRIE, Ky-. A missing 9-year-old girl has
been found dead. Kentucky State Police say Amy Dye was reported missing
Friday night.
The family lives near Guthrie in Todd County.
Investigators said her body was found just after midnight under brush
about 100 yards from her home.
The family was grieving Saturday evening. And
with no suspects, there had certainly been no arrests made in this case
by Saturday night.
An autopsy indicated the little girl died from blunt force trauma leading investigators to call her death homicide.
The husband and wife are not the child's
biological parents. The child was related to the wife and legally
adopted by the couple.
"You never like to see death regardless of
whether it's an adult or a child; however, children are especially
difficult because it's such a young age, and the circumstances behind
it. You know that something happened that shouldn't have happened, and
it breaks your heart," said Trooper Stu Recke, Kentucky State Police.
Investigators were talking to Dye's parents Saturday night.

Re: AMY DYE - 9 yo (2011) - Trenton (NE of Fort Campbell) KY
The murder of 9-year-old Amy Dye came as a shock to her tiny community in Trenton Kentucky last week
Now the news of who was arrested brings new worries.
Two sources familiar with the murder case say Dye's 17 year old cousin Garett Dye is the juvenile authorities arrested Sunday and charged with murder and resisting arrest.
Several Trenton residents tell us that news has them worried for the family.
"It impacts on that family in such a way. Not only is the girl dead and gone but the person they've arrested if he's guilty is in the family," said Bob Glover.
Fox 17 News has learned Garett dye lives in an underground home on the family's rural property in Trenton.
A source close to the case says Amy Dye was sent out to repair holes on the gravel driveway on the property Friday night as punishment for stealing food at school.
She disappeared around 6 PM and was reported missing at 10:20 PM. A teacher found her early Saturday morning murdered less than 100 yards from her home.
"It's really devastating to think that something like that could really happen to a poor little girl that was defenseless. and what was she doing out there by herself in the middle of the night," said Trenton Resident Lou Jean Griffin.

The teenager charged with killing a 9-year-old
girl is the child's older brother, according to a report by WHOP-FM in
Hopkinsville.Garrett Dye, 17, is accused of beating and killing
his sister, Amy Dye, on Feb. 4. The child was found in a field near her
home after family members reported her missing. At a Monday hearing, the case was sent to a grand jury and transferred to adult court.Garrett Dye will remain in juvenile custody until he turns 18 years old in October.A grand jury is expected to hear the case next week.

Poster's Note: Fratricide at this age is very unusual. I am leaning toward a horrible secret that Amy wasn't going to keep hidden any longer.

TODD COUNTY TEEN INDICTED FOR MURDER
A TODD COUNTY GRAND JURY INDICTED THE YOUNG MAN ACCUSED OF MURDERING HIS SISTER AT THEIR TRENTON-AREA HOME ON FEBRUARY 4TH.
THE “TRUE BILL” ALLEGES ONE COUNT EACH OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER, RESISTING ARREST AND TAMPERING WITH EVIDENCE.
THE INDICTMENT SAYS 17-YEAR OLD GARRETT DYE USED A “HYDRAULIC JACK HANDLE” TO REPEATEDLY BEAT HIS 9-YEAR OLD SISTER AMY IN THE HEAD UNTIL SHE WAS DEAD NEAR THEIR 9-11 DOGWOOD LANE HOME.
THE SECOND COUNT IS FOR RESISTING ARREST AND THE INDICTMENT SAYS DYE BECAME COMBATIVE, FOUGHT AND USED PHYSICAL FORCE AGAINST THE KENTUCKY STATE POLICE DETECTIVE WHO ARRESTED HIM ON THE AFTERNOON OF THE 6TH.
LASTLY, THE ONLY NEW CHARGE TACKED ON TO THE INDICTMENT WAS ONE OF TAMPERING WITH EVIDENCE. DYE ALLEGEDLY MOVED THE VICTIM’S BODY, HID HIS CLOTHES AND HID THE MURDER WEAPON BEFORE POLICE ARRIVED ON THE SCENE.
CIRCUIT JUDGE TYLER GILL ALLOWED DYE’S ENTIRE CASE FILE TO BE MADE PUBLIC RECORD AFTER THE GRAND JURY HEARING. A DISTRICT COURT HEARING RECORD SHOWS THAT PART OF THE REASONING FOR HIM BEING TRIED AS AN ADULT WAS A “SUBSTANTIAL” HISTORY OF RUN-INS WITH THE LAW.
THE FILE ALSO CONTAINS AN AFFADAVIT FOR A SEARCH WARRANT WRITTEN BY K-S-P DETECTIVE LONNIE KAVANAUGH. THE AFFADAVIT SAYS DYE ADMITTED THAT HE KILLED HIS SISTER WITH THE JACK HANDLE AND THAT HE TRIED TO COVER IT UP BY WASHING A T-SHIRT HE HAD BEEN WEARING AND THAT HE HID THE WEAPON.

The attorney representing a 17-year-old murder defendant in Todd
County will ask next month to try the case in a different county’s
courtroom. He fears Todd County’s potential jurors have heard too much
about the case to give the teen a fair hearing.
Garrett Dye appeared Wednesday in Todd Circuit Court for his
first pretrial hearing. Judge Tyler Gill suggested scheduling a trial
date, and the attorneys settled on July 25, a Monday.
They also scheduled a review for April 27. Dye’s attorney, Dennis
Ritchie, said on Wednesday afternoon he’ll file several motions at the
review, including his request for a change of venue.http://alllegalinformation.com/attorney-attorney-seeks-venue-change-for-todd-teens-murder-trial/
