A Cheek man and his girlfriend were booked into the
Jefferson County jail Tuesday night on charges of injury to a child.
Dewayne McKinley Byrd, 24 and Jamie Alyse Laday, 25
are charged in connection with the beating of Laday's
2-year-old son at a Beaumont apartment complex in late January.
Kaleb Walton remains at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.
Police say he suffered bleeding on the brain and bruises to much of his body.
Byrd is being held on a $250,000 bond and Laday is being held on a $200,000 bond.
