"Newborn Baby Doe" - 7 Days - Tampa FL

Authorities are investigating the death of a 7-day-old infant after a
mother awoke early Thursday morning and found her baby was not
breathing.

Tampa Police Department homicide detectives and the medical examiner are investigating the cause of death.

The mother was sleeping with the infant and awoke at 3:30 a.m. to discover the child was not breathing, police said.

The child's grandmother, who was in the home, began CPR. The infant
began bleeding from the nose and the women called 911, police said.

Tampa firefighters took the infant to St. Joseph's Hospital, where the child was pronounced dead.
