And The Frye Hearings Continue………What Have We Learned?

Wednesday, April 6, 2011 should have marked the end of the Frye Hearings, and both sides gave closing arguments, yet the Judge pointed out they had a few motions not covered. The heart sticker was not covered, nor was the stain in the trunk, though some of the air issues did address it to some degree, as the chemical compositions that were found were somewhat discussed. Also it was said that the smell was not addressed, and like the stain, it was somewhat, but they will fully address it on Friday. There is a status hearing set for Friday, April 8, 2011, and it will start at 9 am Eastern. The Judge has decided to let them present their arguments for the motions not addressed. The heart sticker will be decided on the pleadings, which in my mind means they will not argue it, but will let the motions and responses be the arguments.

I decided to do something a bit different with this post, as I know the Frye Hearings have addressed some things that are hard for most folks that are not scientific experts to understand. We are very capable of picking up on when someone contradicts themselves in their testimony, and we are pretty good at picking up on whether or not they appear to be qualified on what they are testifying to. The defense has had some that are testifying to a field of expertise that is really not their expertise, but rather something they may have dabbled in. How will the jury perceive this?
