BROOKLYN STINNETT - 18 Months - Knoxville TN

A mother and her boyfriend have been indicted on murder charges in
connection with the death earlier this month of the woman's 18-month-old
daughter.

Brittany Stinnett, 22, was arrested Wednesday on charges of felony
murder and aggravated child neglect, according to Knoxville Police
Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk.

Stinnett's boyfriend, Danny Jay Branam Jr., 23, faces charges of
felony murder and aggravated child abuse. Branam has been in jail on a
charge of failure to obey court orders.

Stinnett and Branam are being held in lieu of $500,000 bond each on the new charges, DeBusk said.

The pair are accused of killing Brooklyn Stinnett. Branam is not the child's father, DeBusk said.

Authorities were alerted about 7 p.m. April 5 that the child was
unresponsive and not breathing at Big Oak Apartments, where Branam and
Brittany Stinnett live. Brittany Stinnett was home with the child when
E-911 was called.

Emergency personnel rushed the child from the Middlebrook Pike
apartment to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Brooklyn
Stinnett died April 8.
