Two Unnamed Children - Accused:Derrick Armstrong - Mill Creek WV

A Randolph County man is facing two felony counts of child abuse resulting in injury. Derrick Armstrong, 33, of Mill Creek was arrested after sheriff's deputies said he injured two children.


The children were injured in two separate incidents, according to details in his criminal complaint. In one incident, he took the two children to a park to play. When one
child began acting up, Armstrong hit him in the mouth with an open hand,
giving the boy a bloody lip, the complaint alleged. When one of the
children later threw rocks at a passing vehicle, Armstrong hit him in
the head with a plastic pop bottle, approximately 10 times, the
complaint said. Later that evening, the children were woken up by a thunderstorm. When
the child woke Armstrong up, he picked the child up by neck and hit his
head into the arm of a chair approximately five times, the complaint
further alleged. One of the children was hit in the mouth several
times, leaving his faced bruised and bloody, deputies said. Armstrong is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $35,000 cash-only bond.
