Newport News police search for missing teen


Rebecca Bruhwel, 15, went missing May 24.

Police are asking the public to help them find a teenager known to hurt herself who went missing almost two weeks ago.
Rebecca Bruhwel, 15, was last seen at her home in the 800 block of
Lafayette Terrace on May 24 at about 3:50 p.m., according to a news
release.
She is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and 130 pounds with blue
eyes and long, straight red hair. She was wearing a black tank top under
a blue plaid shirt, black shorts and black shoes.
Anyone who has information about Bruhwel's whereabouts is asked to call (757) 247-2500.

Missing Newport News girl found safe in Portsmouth

A 15-year-old girl who was believed to be endangered and who had been missing from Newport News since May 24 was located safe this morning in Portsmouth.
Rebecca Lynn Bruhwel was located by Portsmouth Police and was fine, Newport News police wrote in a news release.
She will be reunited with her parents, who reported her missing to police on May 25..
