DeANTE SHAWN TRAYLOR - 3 Months (2007) - Shannon/ Jackson MS

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) _ A Shannon man serving 40 years for the death of
his three month old son has lost his attempt to have his conviction overturned.



29 year old Jimmy Traylor pleaded guilty to culpable negligence manslaughter
and felony child abuse in the February 2007 death of Deante Shawn Traylor.
Authorities says an autopsy showed the child died of neglect and malnutrition.
In his appeal, Traylor claims the charges are double jeopardy and
he received ineffective counsel when he entered the guilty pleas.

The Mississippi Court of Appeals denied the appeals on Tuesday.
