Short tandem repeat (STR) technology is used to evaluate specific regions (loci)
within nuclear DNA. Variability in STR regions can be used to distinguish one
DNA profile from another. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) uses a standard
set of 13 specific STR regions for CODIS. CODIS is a software program that operates
local, state, and national databases of DNA profiles from convicted offenders,
unsolved crime scene evidence, and missing persons. The odds that two individuals
will have the same 13-loci DNA profile is about one in a billion.

That only is STR results. I am going to have to
research more, but those are not normally conclusive as to parentage.
In a sibling the unknown markers do not deviate from the familial unit
at all. I would like to see the actual results charted. This can be
misinterpreted easily. If you have homologous pairs where the mother
and father contributed to the same allele, then the odds are increased.
If there are any same homologous genes with the same marker twice, it
would normally be interpreted as incest and STR tests don't give all
that information.

Beach, what did you find out? Some are still hanging their hat on the fact that Lee is the father based on your post despite the FBI saying he isn't.

I totally agree NanaMichele. Early on LP claimed that Lee was the father and because of this many people have said they think he is. Even though DNA tests carried out by the FBI have proven he isn't, some people are still saying they think Lee is the father. I have Pm'd Beach Potato to ask her to post what other information she has found out about the tests because her post is why someone told me they don't believe the test result. I haven't had a reply to date. Quite frankly, suggesting that the FBI, who specifically tested dna to see if Lee was the father don't know how to do that properly is absurd IMO.

Unreasonable, baseless claims that Caylee is the product of incest has always upset me. I feel that I need to clear this up on Caylee's behalf.

Is there any possibility that Caylee's father has been around all along? I guess that's been my question as to paternity...the Snow guy...or any of the others. It probably shouldn't be important, but what if he HAD seen her growing up...what if HE would want justice...just MAYBE it would put someone else in Caylee's corner for justice? JMO
