A Union City woman has been charged with child abuse after allegedly stabbing her 10-year-old son during a family quarrel.
Kwanna Joyce (McElrath) Huff, 33, of 205 Ford St., Apt. 3, was arrested
Monday evening on a charge of aggravated child abuse, according to a
Union City Police Department report.
She was still being held in the
Obion County Law Enforcement Complex at press time today and was
scheduled to be arraigned on the charge at 1 p.m.
Police responded
about 4:30 p.m. Monday to a 911 call at 205 Ford St. in reference to a
child calling 911 and claiming his mother was stabbing him.
A
police investigator reported he observed a 10-year-old boy with a stab
wound to his upper right arm. The child was taken by ambulance to the
emergency room of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City for treatment.
A police investigation determined that during a family quarrel, Ms.
Huff, identified as the child’s mother, allegedly picked up a knife and
stabbed the child in the arm.
The child was treated at the hospital and released, police reported.
