2 Unnamed victims - 5 and 3 yo/ Accused: Marietta Cody - Lawrenceburg TN

Lawrenceburg police have arrested four people in
connection with the alleged child abuse of a 5-year-old girl and her
4-year-old brother that was caught on tape.

Capt. Don Laws said dispatchers received an anonymous tip about the alleged abuse on Aug.
27. When they arrived at the Lawrenceburg residence, authorities seized a
videotape. Laws said the video footage contained about 20 minutes of
the children, whose names were not released, being subjected to physical and verbal abuse.

“By looking at it, I would say (it was) borderline torture,” he said.



Marietta Cody, 30, Tabitha Jane Sims, 25 and Nicholas Lee Daniels, 23, are each
charged with two counts of child abuse. Cody was also charged with
criminal responsibility for child abuse. The three suspects were taken
to Lawrence County Jail and are scheduled for an October court appearance.

A fourth suspect, an 11-year-old female, was also
charged with child abuse and is being held in a juvenile detention
center. Cody and the juvenile suspect are related to the alleged victims, Laws said.

He added the children have been examined for possible injuries by a
pediatrician and are with a caregiver at an undisclosed location. The
Tennessee Department of Children’s Services has been contacted to assist
authorities with the investigation.
