PHOENIX - A Valley man faces child abuse charges after he allegedly
threw his daughter down twice when he became frustrated with her.
Samuel Herrera, 21, has been charged with two counts of child abuse for
the incident that happened in early July in Phoenix.
According to court documents, hospital staff notified police after discovering
the baby girl had suffered a badly broken arm.

Herrera allegedly told police he was the only one watching the girl and
at first said she must have fallen from her walker.
When confronted with the severity of the injury, Herrera reportedly admitted
to police "he got frustrated with the baby. He picked her up and threw
her down not only once but twice and that is how the injury occurred."
Herrera apparently did not seek medical help for the little girl, nor did he
tell her mother about the injury, delaying treatment for the child, police said.
Herrera was arrested Thursday night.
