"Infant Jane Doe" - 20 Months/ Accused: Joseph Knowles - Nashville TN

A toddler is in the hospital after police say she was severely abused by her mother's boyfriend.
The 20-month-old is recovering at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.
Sheriff Kyle Helton tells WAFF 48 News the child's condition is improving.
The boyfriend of the child's mom is in the Giles County Jail with a bond of $2 million dollars.
His name is Joseph Leon Knowles, and he's from Pulaski, Tennessee.
The Giles County Sheriff's Department charged Knowles with two counts of child abuse
and one count of aggravated child abuse.
Sheriff Helton said the child suffered severe head trauma.
Knowles was arrested around 11 Wednesday morning.
Helton said the case was immediately taken to a grand jury. The grand jury found enough
evidence to send this case to circuit court, so Knowles will be going to trial.
Knowles was charged under Haley's law, a law in Tennessee which makes most
child abuse charges felonies punishable with life in prison.
