"John" HERNANDEZ-STRAIT - 7 yo - San Antonio TX

According to police warrants, Yvonne Hernandez and Samuel Strait have
been booked into the Bexar County Jail for injuring their 7-year-old
son.

It all started when police received a call from Child Protective
Services about a boy being admitted to Laurel Ridge Treatment Center
with severe bruising to his body.

They believed the beatings were from his parents.

The parents told authorities that their son was having suicidal
thoughts from being sexually abused by his grandmother. Police said in
the affidavit that an investigation showed those sexual abuse claims
were false, and that the case had been closed.

Investigators say the child was being physically and mentally abused by both parents.

They say the parents told the boy his grandmother had died when in fact she is still alive.

The son told investigators that his parents spanked him with a belt, a
wooden stick and even a hammer. He also stated that he had to sleep
and eat his meals in the garage and put his hands on the walls for
hour. He said his bottom bled when his dad spanked him, and according
to the warrant he had bruising on his legs, bottom, torso and his neck.

The investigation also found various scars and scabs that were in different stages of healing.

The mother did admit to spanking him with a belt and a wooden stick,
but stated it was only to keep him from committing suicide.

Both parents have been charged with injury to a child, which is a felony.
