JOLIET — Family members are searching for a 13-year-old Joliet girl who went missing Friday, the girl’s aunt said.

Arionte Lusby, 13, was not home when Wondra Harris
returned from work late Friday night, Harris said. Harris is the girl’s
aunt and legal guardian.

On Friday, Arionte came home from Dirksen Junior
High School around 3:30 p.m., Harris said. The last known contact anyone
had with her was around 5:45 p.m. Friday, the aunt said.


When Harris came home from work late in the
evening, Arionte’s school books were out, as if she had been doing
homework, but she was not home, Harris said. Harris found nothing
suspicious in the residence to indicate what might have happened, she
said.

Joliet police received a missing person report Friday evening regarding Arionte.

This weekend, people passed out fliers in Joliet, seeking the public’s help in locating Arionte.

The family still is seeking help. If members of the
public have information, they are encouraged to call Joliet police

A 13-year-old Joliet girl last seen after school Friday may have run away, police said.

Sgt. Mike Batis said there is no evidence that Arionte Lusby was
abducted and police have visited several addresses she might have gone.
He said police are treating the case as a runaway.

“We have nothing concrete yet. And we don’t have anything credible to say or allude that she has been abducted,” he said.

Lusby was last seen Friday evening at Dirksen Junior High School, where she attends class.

Wondra Harris, Lusby’s aunt and legal guardian for seven years, said a
family member may be involved. She said there are some relatives’ homes
where Lusby is not permitted to stay the night. Harris also said that
the quiet teenager would not have been able to orchestrate a
disappearance alone.

Harris said Lusby made a call to another aunt in Bolingbrook at about
6 p.m. Friday. When Harris returned home later that night, she said the
teen’s books and school papers were scattered throughout the kitchen.

She said she believes the police are doing everything they can by
knocking on doors and questioning family and friends. Harris said there
are family members in Will County, as well as in Minnesota and Indiana,
who could be involved.

“Like the police said, ‘Everybody is a suspect,’” Harris said. ” I understand that … I’m looking at family members as well.”
