Family searches for teen who disappeared from outlet mall


GWINNETT CO., Ga —
A Gwinnett County family is asking for the public's help in locating a 14-year-old girl.
Relatives
say Galilea Magana, a freshman at Central Gwinnett High School,
disappeared Dec. 19 while shopping with her mother at an outlet mall in
Jackson County.
"She went to the restroom, and from then on, she
never came back," said Flor Valencia, the girl's cousin, who is in town
from Texas helping Galilea's mother search for clues.
The missing
child's mother finds each day without word about the girl excruciating,
and spent Christmas posting fliers with her picture, Channel 2 Action
News report Manuel Bojorquez said.
"She's very nervous, very shocked and everything ... At night, I can hear her crying," Valencia said.
The
family said Galilea was not rebellious, and they were not aware of her
possibly having a boyfriend, when asked if she may have run away.
"It's
a mall, anything can happen," said Valencia. "Not just because she's a
girl and could have had a boyfriend, it doesn't mean that she ran
away."
Anyone with information on the girl's whereabouts is asked to call the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.

is reporting that investigators believe a missing 14-year-old Gwinnett
County teen could be with an older man she may have met on the Internet.

Galilea Magana went missing from a Jackson County outlet mall Dec. 19
while she was shopping with her mother. According to reports, the teen
stepped away to use the restroom and never returned. She has been
featured on news reports and MissingNFound websites since then; at the time her family believed she would
not have run away and did not have a boyfriend.

However, according to information reported on WSB-TV, investigators
have uncovered that the teen met a man nicknamed “Lalo” online. She
also is reported to have left a note stating she intended to run away.

Galilea Magana is described as a Hispanic female with black hair, brown eyes, five feet tall and weighing 125 pounds.

“Investigators are working this as a runaway juvenile, as they have discovered information that the child left a note that she intended to run away, and also had been talking with someone over a dating site,” said Major David Cochran. “Investigators are in the process of following up on those leads at this time. She and her mother had been at Tanger Mall on Dec. 19 shopping when this incident took place. We do not know at this time how she left the mall.”

Officials believe Magana was picked up by Eduardo Hernandez or Eduardo Jiminez, also known as “Lalo,” to whom Magana had been talking over the Internet.

A teenager missing since Dec. 19
after meeting a man she met on an Internet dating site has contacted a
family member to say she wants to return home.

Major David Cochran of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed
Tuesday that Galilea Magana, 14, Lawrenceville, has contacted an aunt to
report that she wants to come home.

The teenager apparently ran away during a shopping trip to the Tanger Outlet Center in Commerce Dec. 19.

“Investigators are working this as a runaway juvenile, as they have
discovered information that the child left a note that she intended to
run away, and also had been talking with someone over a dating site,”
Cochran said earlier. “Investigators are in the process of following up
on those leads at this time. She and her mother had been at Tanger Mall
on Dec. 19 shopping when this incident took place. We do not know at
this time how she left the mall.”
