Baby found dead suffered grievous injuries

Information in a recently-released criminal complaint shows the baby
found dead Thursday in Albuquerque suffered from obvious and grievous
injuries before she died.

The complaint says police responded to a 911 call about a dead infant
who had “been taking a bottle and choked” and “had passed away.”

Police found the month-old baby girl dead in her home with bruising to
her face, neck, eyes and chest, including two black eyes. She also
appeared to have a bite mark on her cheek.

Police immediately suspected the baby had been sexually assaulted
because the infant’s abdomen was distended and there was a significant
amount of blood in her vaginal and anal area.

A partial emergency autopsy done on the child also showed she had
numerous brain bleeds, a lacerated liver and rib fractures in different
stages of healing.

The baby’s mother, Pauline Sanchez, told police she had left the home
at 1925 Lake SW Wednesday do some shopping, and later stopped by the
Hard Rock casino.

When she came home Thursday morning, she found her boyfriend, Juan
Galindo, holding the dead baby and telling her she had choked on a bottle.

Bernalillo County Sheriff's deputies questioned Galindo, 37, who told
them he had used $40 worth of methamphetamine earlier Wednesday.

He said he awoke around 10 p.m. Wednesday to find the baby crying and choking and began patting her back with increasing force.

Galindo told the detectives he inserted his finger into the baby’s
vagina and anus because he saw her stomach was hard and he “thought she
might be constipated.”

After he saw the baby was dead, Galindo said he tried to revive her,
then sat outside with her body under the porch for three hours.

Police arrested Galindo, 37, and charged him with aggravated criminal sexual penetration and child abuse resulting in death.

It is still not clear whether Galindo is the baby’s father.

Family members we spoke to Friday say the baby's mother is "distraught."

And what can you say about a USELESS piece of shit who calls herself a mother, who leaves her tiny fragile baby with her drug addict boyfriend while she effs of to play the pokies all ff night! Kiwi, I couldn't agree with you more. What is wrong with mothers? Every day we read articles like this and it's so tragic. This baby was only ONE month old? I hope that POS murderer rots in jail and gets what's coming to him.

What a horrible, horrible thing. The rapes alone were enough to kill this poor 4 week old newborn infant.

Now we have to waste money on a trial. I hope they put him in gen pop and let the other prisoners pass him around.

They need to arrest his POS mother also.

If he is given the DP it will take years and years to kill him. Then he will whine about it being inhumane. What could be more inhumane than the way this poor newborn died?

Twink, I can hardly stand to even think about it, but I can't imagine that a newborn baby could survive even one rape attempt, can you? I mean they are so tiny. It's just too disgusting to even comprehend. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if someone raped that POS to death...slowly for what he did to this poor baby. I think he may have raped her and when she wouldn't or couldn't stop crying, beat her to death. She may have suffered punches that caused bruises and broken ribs but I think the rape would have done her in pretty quickly with the internal bleeding.

Babyj, I soooo agree with you. This makes me sick to even think about. She was so tiny, only 4 weeks old. I just can't wrap my brain around that. Both vaginally and anally. This really has me worked up.

An 18 month old baby girl in Miami died after being vaginally raped. This poor baby was only 4 weeks, just a wisp. I pray she died right away and didn't have to live through all of the pain this POS inflicted. He needs to be dead.

What to do with these two - torture and rape for four weeks? That's how long this went on? And what about Mom? Who has a baby - she's not sure if he's the Dad - and leaves her, overnight with a man wanted by the law and high on Meth, while she parties at the casino till the next morning? While I'm normally very cautious about our personal rights, I feel that she has proven herself completely irresponsible - sterilize her before she pulls this again! I frankly don't even want to waste money on their keep in prison, for life!What kind of a world do we live in?!

Hello and thank you for the welcome - sometimes I get hotheaded and don't choose my words carefully - but this time I speak from the heart. I have a three month old - late in life, and unexpected. I embraced this gift. I enjoyed having the older two, and this one is no different. Maybe it's my hormones. I just don't get what she was DOING all that time - while he admits to using $20 of METH per day?! Why not have her brother watch the kids?! I just don't understand.

Women like this put their bed partners ahead of their children. I can't figure out why they have children.

She was probably paying for his drugs also.

They need to start arresting all of the mothers whose boyfriends or husbands beat and/or murder their children. Almost always they are aware of the abuse.

Some of the reports about what these poor babies and children endure just because the parents don't give a damn are enough to depress anyone.

Yes. Her last name is Sanchez, I think. I saw her first initial is "A." maybe that's what is messing with me - both my daughters and I have "A" names. This summer I will make a little place for her in my memorial spot in my flower bed. I just don't want her or any of the others forgotten - and I want the numbers to drop and disappear while we're at it.

I could understand if she was at work and DIDN'T know he was using, but you can't disguise daily meth use - can you? She wasn't nursing - so did she use too? That block of Albuquerque is rather notoriously rough - I used to live in NM, and I remember that area - by reputation. Being too high to care for an infant is not any kind of excuse - he (maybe they,) still CHOSE TO USE. Why not get a sober sitter - why stay out till 2am?!

I don't know much about meth, just that it rots teeth. But, I don't think you can live with and sleep with a druggie without knowing they are using.

Which makes me think she may also be a drug user, just a functioning one.

Yep - probably at the time, she wasn't even worried. Did you catch that part about NO working phones? She wasn't in contact even if her POS man HAD called her and advised that the baby was crying - odd, don't you think? Meth users are up several days at a time - therefore it is difficult to conceal from other members of the house. It sweats out and produces a horrible body odor. One of my younger cousins fell into psychotic episodes with it - two years later, he shot himself. I am horrified that this guy was "flying" in another dimension, and placed in charge of a tiny angel. WTF?!
