Re: AUBREY HANNSZ - 4 Months/ Accused: Micah Patterson - Virginia Beach VA
Micah Patterson, a 22-year-old Master at Arms Third Class with the
U.S. Navy, has been charged with felony child abuse and neglect. Police
say his girlfriend left her four-month-old daughter, Aubrey Hannsz, in
Micah's care while she went out somewhere.
On January 10th, Beach
police were called to their home in the Ocean Trace Apartment Complex
and found that the baby girl was not breathing.
Investigators say as medics were taking the child to the hospital, they suspected
possible child abuse but police refused to say anything about what made
the medical team think that.
The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital, and investigators turned to Micah Patterson as the suspect.
"Obviously, at this point, what we're waiting for is the
cause of death from the medical examiner's office and then the
commonwealth will make any determination on any further charges," says
MPO Grazia Moyers of the Virginia Beach Police Department.
The Navy Personnel Command wouldn't say where Micah was based, but the Navy
Times is reporting he's been at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek
Fort Story since the end of November.

Re: AUBREY HANNSZ - 4 Months/ Accused: Micah Patterson - Virginia Beach VA
For the first time since his arrest, 22-year-old Micah Patterson faced a judge through a video monitor in Virginia Beach on a charge that he abused and neglected his girlfriend's four-month-old daughter, Aubrey Hannsz.
Police say Patterson, who is a Master at Arms Third Class with the Navy, was watching Aubrey on January 10th when she stopped breathing.
Paramedics were called and investigators say that's when they noticed signs of child abuse.
Court documents obtained by NewsChannel 3 show that Patterson is accused of causing serious injury to the child by willful act, omission, or refusal to provide necessary care.
Police aren't saying which of these Patterson did. They are waiting on the cause of death from the medical examiner's office.
Right now, Patterson has been charged with one felony count of child abuse.
Patterson is being held in the Virginia Beach correctional Center without bond.
He will have a bond hearing on Thursday
