"Toddler John Doe" - 3 yo/ Accused: Daniel Basham - Reno NV

Police were called in to
investigate possible child abuse after hospital staff discovered a child
suffering from hypothermia and internal injuries.
It happened at 6:20 p.m., Sun.,, police were called
to Renown Medical Center on the report of a suspected child abuse. The
3-year-old victim was in a hypothermic state at the time of arrival at
the hospital and was suffering internal injuries.

It was soon discovered that the boyfriend of the
victim’s mother, 32-year-old Daniel Basham, was the sole person
entrusted to care for the child while she was at work.


Police determined Basham was the
only one caring for the child at a home on Flagg Drive in Reno at the
time of the victim's injuries. He has been charged with child neglect.

The child is currently being treated in the Pediatric ICU at Renown.
