CLIFTON — Police are asking for the public's help in their search for a missing 16-year-old girl described as a chronic runaway.

Jazmine Amaya has been missing for three months.

The teen, who is 5 feet 3 inches tall and 125 pounds, was wearing Betty Boop pajamas when she was last seen in Clifton on Oct. 17, said Detective Sgt. Robert Bracken of the Clifton police.

"She is a habitual runaway," Bracken said. "We don't know where she is. We feel she is in the Paterson area, probably staying with friends."

The police, as well as the girl's parents, have exhausted "every possible lead," Bracken said.

"We are also working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children," Bracken said.

No criminal charges are pending, but that could change.

"Anyone who continues to harbor her will be charged criminally," Bracken said. The charges could range from endangering the welfare of a child to interfering with an investigation, he said.

CLIFTON — Clifton police are searching for a teen they believe ran away from home more than three months ago.

Jazmine Amaya, 16, labeled "a habitual runaway" who frequented the Paterson area after past run-away incidents, has been missing for three months, and "that is cause for concern," said Clifton juvenile detective Sgt. Robert Bracken.
Amaya was last seen by her family in Clifton in October, Bracken said, adding no one has heard from her since.
Investigators have been working with the National Center for
Missing and Exploited Children, as well as other agencies, but no
success in finding her.
Bracken said Amaya does not face criminal charges, but if
someone is "choosing to harbor her" he or she can be charged with
offenses relating to child endangerment.
