TYLER PRUITT - 7 Weeks/ Accused: Cathryn Sykes - Gaston NC

A Gastonia woman has been charged with causing traumatic brain injury to her infant son.



Cathryn Elizabeth Sykes, 22, of 9013 Heather Trace, was charged with intentional child abuse involving serious bodily injury.

Sykes was charged by Gaston County police after she physically injured her 7-week-old son, Tyler Pruitt, causing a subdural hematoma on his brain, according to an arrest warrant. The incident reportedly occurred on Jan. 13.

Sykes was held at the Gaston County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
