NATALIA SANTILLAN - 3 yo (2009) - Phoenix AZ

PHOENIX - A woman has been acquitted of negligent homicide
but convicted of child abuse in the 2009 death of a Peoria girl in
her care.

Maricopa County prosecutors say a jury returned the verdicts
Monday in the case of 29-year-old Ayrin Vick. She's scheduled to be
sentenced March 16.

Vick originally was indicted on first-degree murder and child
abuse charges in the April 2009 death of a 3-year-old Natalia
Santillan. Vick was arrested three months later.

Police say Vick was at home caring for Santillan, who was the
niece of her boyfriend.

She called 911 claiming that the child had suddenly collapsed.
The girl later died at a hospital.

Peoria police say an investigation later showed the cause of
death was internal injuries which were the result of blunt force
trauma.

WTH is going on? Why is it OK to murder a child and practically get away with it? It seems children have less rights than adults as I see siffer sentences when crimes are committed against adults. They should be harsher when an innocent defenseless baby is murdered. I'm so sick of our judicial system. This woman will probably spend little time in jail for murdering this precious child.
