Thank you Ovie and Tom,
This case has bothered me from the beginning for the obvious reasons and also because I spent my childhood summers in a nearby town.
If I had sent my children on an errand together, I would be livid if any grown up intervened and sent them their separate ways.
This area is also heavily wooded (just like the area Kyron went missing in). Lindsey may be near by, but very difficult to find.
So sad.

Lindsey has been missing since May. The media don't seem to care or want to cover this horrid story and I am confused as to why? God Bless her

It's suspicious they haven't come forward of their own accord as surely they have heard about her and realize they were there. Hopefully someone will recognize them and the truck and call in.

Re: LINDSEY J BAUM - 10 yo (2009) - McCleary WA
Authorities have conducted two new searches related to the disappearance
of Lindsey Baum, who was 10 years old when she
vanished June 26, 2009, while walking home from a friend's
house in McCleary, Wash.
Investigators with the Grays Harbor Sheriff's Office and the FBI
grew suspicious after they found inconsistencies in information
provided a year ago by a 47-year-old man, whose name they will not
release.
Some of the man's account failed to match other information the
investigators had obtained independently, according to Grays Harbor Undersherriff
Rick Scott.
"We found that what we were being told and what we now believed to be
true were two different things," Scott said. "Those inconsistencies gave
birth to some concerns that we needed to explore further."
The Sheriff's Office obtained search warrants and carried out searches
on the man's residence and a shared storage unit Tuesday, seizing some
items and speaking to the man at length.
Investigators planned to search his car this morning.
Scott downplayed the new search, emphasizing that this man was one of
many persons of interest in the case and has not become a suspect.
"A lot of what we were concerned about has been somewhat explained,"
Scott said.
"We found nothing yesterday that clearly links him to Lindsey's disappearance.
"We've looked at over 4,000 leads so far," Scott said. "Even if it
eliminates someone from further scrutiny, it's a step in the right
direction."
Investigators will submit the items they seized from the man's residence
and storage unit for forensic testing, but Scott said it may be some
time before they learn anything. It has been more than a year since Lindsey disappeared on the 10-minute
walk from a friend's house. Witnesses spotted her shortly after 9:30
p.m. on that day last June, but when she did not return home by 10, her mother, Melissa, went to look for her. When
Lindsey did not turn up, her mother notified police within the hour.
Lindsey would have celebrated her 12th birthday a week ago, on July 7.
Even though a year has passed, Scott still holds hope his office can
find Lindsey and "bring her home.
"You have to remain optimistic," he said."It's a painstakingly slow
process, but we are making progress."

McCLEARY, Wash. - State prison work crews have cleared a large patch of
overgrown land in McCleary where searchers have been looking for a girl
since June of last year.
Grays Harbor County Undersheriff Rick Scott said removal of the brush gave investigators a closer look at the
area. A number of items were collected and sent to a lab for examination as possible evidence.
Scott says none of the items are sending
up "red flags" in the disappearnce of Lindsey Baum, but he says it's
worth the closer look.
Lindsey vanished while walking home from a friend's house at dusk on June 26, 2009. She was 10 years old at the
time of her disappearance.
No arrests have been made and police have never identified a suspect in connection with the case.
Investigators have released several video clips to the public hoping to generate new tips and are offering a
$30,000 reward for information in the case.
Hundreds of people also have been interviewed as part of the investigation and searchers
have combed woods, fields and properties all around the small mill town where she lived.

Vanished: Lindsey Baum Case Heartbreaking for Family, Frustrating for Police
Authorities Hoping Surveillance Video Will Bring Leads on Case of 10-Year-Old Who Disappeared Blocks From Home
After thousands of tips and just as many dashed hopes, police in Washington state are using a year-old surveillance video to try to track down anyone who may have information about the disappearance of 10-year-old Lindsey Baum.
The frustrating case has hit one dead-end after another, but authorities say they're waiting for that one piece of information that will lead to an answer.
"That piece of information that someone may have that to them is completely meaningless, that's going to be the one little nugget that will unravel this mystery," said Grays Harbor County Undersheriff Rick Scott.
The surveillance video, recently released to the public, shows two men -- one in a plaid shirt, another with a young boy -- that the police are hoping to talk to. They were at the Shell gas station around the time that Lindsey vanished on her way home from a friend's house in June 2009.
It was a mile-and-a-half-long route she'd taken nearly every day. A woman who drove her car down the street made eye contact with Lindsey just a few blocks from the little girl's McCleary home. But she never made it.
"I know somebody took her," Lindsey's mother, Melissa Baum, said. "I believe it was somebody she knew or thought she could trust. Meaning somebody she would see as safe."
Baum said she has walked the route her daughter took that night hundreds of times.
"I want to feel her," she said.
"To the person who took my daughter -- if they're a parent and they have any idea what a parents love feels like," Baum said, crying, "I just have to appeal to their heart and to their morals and stop this."
Lindsey's disappearance has hit many hard in this tiny town. Her best friend Michaela Kampen, whose house Lindsey had visited the night she vanished, said she watched her friend leave that night, just like she had dozens of times before.
"She said she has to go and I got up and opened the door for her and I watched her walk past that pole," she said, indicated a spot near her house. "That was the last time I saw her."
No Arrests or Sign of Lindsey Baum After More Than 4,000 Tips, 30 Persons of Interest
Michaela, who described her best friend as "very sweet" with a "loud voice," said she sometimes thinks she sees Lindsey in the street, but it's never her.
"I see someone and they look like a completely different person. They don't look the same," she said, blinking back tears. "They look exactly like Lindsey and then I blink and she's not there anymore."
More than 100 law enforcement agents have hunted for Lindsey with dogs, horses and helicopters. Specialized search teams have been called in and neighbors have been questioned, some of them multiple times.
Over the summer, police and the FBI took a closer look at a 47-year-old man they said had numerous inconsistencies in his story. In July, they searched his car, his home and a storage unit, taking with them several items. Though the man, whose name police declined to release, was added to the list of 30 persons of interest, there still has been no arrest.
"I am never going to stop and I'm not going to let this drop. Ever," Baum said. "And when my time's over, I'll haunt them from my grave."

Drama Heats Up Over Firefighters Refusal to Hand Out Missing Girl Flyers During Separate Charity Event
Thu., Dec. 16 2010 @ 10:35AM
Lindsay Baum, an 11-year-old from McCleary, went missing
18 months ago on her way home from a friend's house. Her mother has
been blanketing the town with flyers and searching everywhere for a clue
of where she might be ever since. But when she asked the McCleary Fire
Department to help her hand out flyers during an upcoming charity event
they put on that benefits a different family, the firefighters said
"sorry, can't do it." Now folks is pissed.
The event in question is called "Santa Through Town," and it includes
a parade, decorated fire engines and lots of candy canes being handed
out, with money being raised to benefit a single sponsored poor family.
Baum wanted the candy canes that the firefighters hand out to be wrapped in rolled up flyers with Lindsay's picture on it.
The
firefighters rationale for refusing to do such a thing is that it would
take away focus from the family that they are sponsoring. They say
they'll gladly hand out info and pictures some other time.
The story,
reported Wednesday by KING 5 has led to quite a battle between those
who agree with the firefighters and those that think the Baum family is
in the right. Both sides have good arguments, but only one side has the
better one.
First off, it would be impossible to fault Baum for wanting the
firefighters to hand out flyers. Most mothers would likely be asking the
entire city worker staff to hand them out 24 hours a day.
And one can also understand why the firefighters wouldn't want to be
perceived as snubbing one poor family by making their event about
another grieving family as well. But that perception would likely be
sparse at most. And unless the slightly modified candy canes would
somehow hinder the fund raising abilities of McCleary's bravest, it
seems impossible that the needy family being benefited by the parade
would be any worse for it.
Besides, if the firefighters really don't want to get involved with
the Lindsay Baum search on that particular day, they can just let the
girl's mom and a couple of her friends or family hitch a ride on the
fire truck and hand out their own flyers. Problem solved.
