-Antigo Police confirm that a construction crew found remains this morning
while doing foundation work for a new subdivision near Riverview Golf
Course in Langlade County just outside of Antigo.

The officials are speculating that the remains are human.

The Sheriff's Department and State Crime Lab
investigators are both working the scene.

At this point and with the evidence they have they
don't believe the remains are those of Kayla Berg
, the Antigo teen
missing since August 2009.

However officials won't know for sure until the DNA is tested.

The remains found this week at a construction site
outside Antigo are human but most likely at least a century old. The
Langlade County Sheriff says that an anthropologist looked at three bags
of items taken from the site. It included earrings, a medallion, hair
and bone fragments. The anthropologist believes the remains are over
100 years old putting to rest speculation that it might be remains of
missing Antigo teen Kayla Berg.

"We're confident now based on the preliminary
information we got from the anthropologist that this will now shift from
a forensic or a potential criminal investigation to an archaeological
investigation," said Sheriff Bill Greening.

Officials expect to find out the ethnicity of the
person once DNA tests are back. The construction crew was working on
the foundation of a new home Monday morning. The site, a former farm,
is believed to be an Indian burial ground.

The search continues for missing teenager Kayla Berg. August 11th marked the one year anniversary of her disappearance.
Antigo Police and Langlade County Sheriff's investigators continue to follow up on leads, but so far there
is no word on where she may be.
On the anniversary of her disappearance, family and friends came together
for a candlelight vigil at an Antigo Park. They're not giving up hope of finding Kayla.
"It's been horrifying," says Kayla's mom Hope Sprenger. "Lots of sleepless nights, lots of tears, lots of prayers."
"I just wanted to do a vigil to keep her in everyone's mind."
Authorities say a year ago, then 15 year-old Kayla was driven from Antigo to Wausau by Kevin Kielcheski.
She hasn't been seen since.
The 24 year-old Kielcheski is charged with second degree reckless endangerment in her disappearance.
Kayla has brown hair and brown eyes. She is 5'2" tall and weighs about 110 lbs.
For now, family members hold on to their memories of Kayla.
"She was always very peppy and energetic," says Ardis Speanbauer, Kayla's grandmother. "And I just miss
the fact that she isn't coming over and saying 'Hi grandma'."
If you have any information call the Langlade County Sheriff's Department at 715-627-6411.

Kevin Kielcheski's Attorney Withdrawls from Case
A Langlade County man will not head to trial next week in connection to the disappearance of a missing teen.

A Langlade County man will not head to trial next week in connection to the disappearance of a missing teen. Thursday, Kevin Kielcheski's attorney withdrew from the case.
In October 2009, Kielcheski, 25, was charged with 2nd-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety after 16-year-old Kayla Berg went missing on August 11, 2009.
Police say Kielcheski drove Berg from Antigo to Wausau last August. She hasn’t been seen since.
Kielcheski pleaded not guilty in March 2010.
He’s due back in court February 21 for a status conference.

A Deerbrook man considered the last person to see Antigo teenager Kayla Berg alive will have to find a new lawyer.
Langlade County Judge Fred Kawalski approved Deborah Hatfield’s motion to withdraw as Kevin Kielcheski’s counsel on Thursday.
Kielcheski is charged with recklessly endangering Berg’s safety in
August 2009 after he admitted smoking marijuana with her, then giving
her a ride to a home in Wausau. Berg was last seen alive August 11,
2009. She is still listed as a missing person.
Kielcheski’s case was supposed to go before a jury this Wednesday.
But the trial has been removed from the court calendar and a status
conference is set for February 21st.
Hatfield did not return a call for comment on Friday afternoon.
A copy of the motion explaining Hatfield’s reasons for withdrawing
from the case was not immediately available from the clerk of court’s
office.

The Antigo Police Department
may have uncovered new clues in the Kayla Berg case. Berg is a missing
teenager from Antigo who disappeared August, 11th, 2009.
Police found items on Kevin Kielcheski's property last week.
Sgt. Dan Duley says things of interest were found,
but it is no indication that Berg was on his property. He wouldn't say what the items are.
Kielcheski, 26, of Deerbrook in Langlade County is charged with
second degree reckless endangerment and
according to police is the last known person to see Berg.
Kielcheski will make a court appearance in June regarding a motion to dismiss the case against him for lack of evidence.

As Antigo High School seniors fill these seats to turn the page of a new chapter in their
lives, this chair is left empty. It's for now 17-year-old Kayla Berg
who disappeared on August 11th, 2009.

"I miss her tremendously. And I'm missing a very special day that should be meant for us to share
and she's not here to do that," says Kayla's mom, Hope Sprenger.

Kayla's mom says police are still doing everything they can to bring her daughter home.

"The police were working on some leads that they had. They had cadaver dogs
up here. They hit on some areas out in Neva. So, they were in the
process of excavating that and going through in evidence that they can find," says Sprenger.

Search efforts that Kayla's best friend, Megan Jegi says will never stop.

"If you're out there, just know that we're still looking for you and we'll
never give up," says Kayla's Best Friend, Megan Jaje.

Jegi says that's why students are wearing these bracelets to help keep Kayla's name alive.

"Makes me feel fantastic! I'm so glad that nobody has forgotten about her.
Nobody will ever forget about her and all we want is for her to come
home," says Jaje.

Hard times that are leaving family and friends with unanswered questions.

"I always remain hopeful. And I will never give up that hope until I have that final word," says Sprenger.

Sprenger says she is thankful to everyone for showing support in helping to find her daughter.

The families of two area girls missing for months are joining forces.

Twenty-two-year-old Stephanie Low went missing in Wausau back in October. Nearly two years ago, then 15-year-old Kayla Berg went missing from Antigo.

The families have come together to form Missing Not Forgotten. This week they're at the Langlade County Fair hoping to spread word and that somebody will have new information.

Berg's family unveiled a new age-progressed photo of Kayla, a best-guess at what their daughter might look like today.

"It's very hard, when I first got it I was in lots of tears, lots of mixed emotions," said Hope Sprenger, Kayla's mother. I'm trying to imagine what she would look like and it's very difficult."

"People forget about Steph," said George Low, her father. "Shortly after it happens they have other things to worry about so nobody really thinks about Steph and and this is one way just to keep both their names out there."

Both families ask anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers.
