Montgomery County investigators are looking into the death of a 3-year-old boy. Deputies were called to the boy’s home on Edgefield Lane for a welfare check around 6:40 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found paramedics performing CPR on the boy. The boy was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in The Woodlands, where he was pronounced dead. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit went to the hospital and to the boy’s home. They said the boy appeared to have suffered some kind of recent trauma. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home and began looking for evidence on the boy’s cause of death. An autopsy was ordered for the child, and the results are expected on Tuesday. Investigators have not released the boy’s name. Deputies said there were numerous adults and other children living with the boy. CPS removed five kids, ranging in age from 2 to 12, from the home. Anyone with information on this case is urged to call Det. Paul Hahs
Sr. at 936-760-5876 or Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at
800-392-7867.

Re: DAVID LEE TIJERINA - 3 yo -(2009) Conroe (N of The Woodlands) TX
Three people were arrested and charged today in the death of a 3-year-old Conroe boy.
Crystal Tijerina, the boy’s aunt, 26, her 30-year-old boyfriend Noah
Herrera and Steven Paul Chauvin, 48, were arrested and charged with one
count each of injury to a child, according to the Montgomery County
Sheriff’s Office.
The bruised boy, who appears to have died Monday night from his
injuries, was part of a blended family that had been investigated four
times by Texas Child Protective Services.
The last visit to the boy’s home occurred on Aug. 25, six days
before he was found not breathing at a home on Edgefield Lane in East
Montgomery County about 6:40 p.m. on Monday.
After paramedics were called to the home, the child, whose name was
not released by authorities, was taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s
Hospital in the The Woodlands and was pronounced dead there about an
hour later.
Investigators said the youngster appeared to have recently suffered
physical trauma, but they did not speculate about what had happened.
"He had severe blunt trauma to the abdomen," said Montgomery County
Justice of the Peace Edie Connelly. "He had numerous injuries."
Connelly said the boy had bruises.
She declined to discus other details, such as possible arrests,
because the case is still being investigated. However, she said, he
died from the trauma to his abdomen.
The boy was living with his maternal grandparents, five cousins, an
aunt and an uncle. CPS removed the boy’s five cousins — ages 2 to 12 —
from the home while the agency investigates.
An autopsy is scheduled for later today at the Southeast Forensic Center in Conroe.
The first CPS entry for the boy came on the day he was born, on Aug.
3, 2006, after his mother appeared to have tested positive for drugs
after she delivered him. But the mother had been taking cold medication
and CPS concluded that could have resulted in a positive test result.
CPS officials were called a second time, six months later on Feb.
17, 2007 after someone complained that the boy’s mother and her
boyfriend were passed out inside a car while the baby was strapped into
a car seat in the back. He was examined by CPS. The boy appeared to be
in good health, the agency said, and was placed with the mother’s
parents, where he was living when 911 was called on Monday.
CPS made two visits in 2008 - to investigate neglect and abuse complaints involving the boy’s cousins.
On Aug. 25, a CPS caseworker made a random check on the family to see how they were doing. An uncle was home with the children.
"All the children appear to be happy and healthy," the caseworker wrote in her report.
Anyone with information about the case is urged to call Detective
Paul Hahs Sr. at 936-760-5876 or the Montgomery County Crime Stoppers
at 1-800-392-STOP.

CONROE - A Montgomery County grand jury indicted an East Montgomery County man on a capital murder on Wednesday in connection with the death of his girlfriend’s 3-year-old nephew. Two members of the boy’s family face lesser charges.
Noah Herrera, 20, of 16625 Edgefield Lane near Grangerland is accused of killing David Lee Tijerina on August 31. In addition the capital murder charge, Herrera was also indicted on the charge of injury to a child.
Crystal Tijerina, 27, Herrera’s girlfriend and David Tijerina’s aunt and primary caretaker was indicated on the charge of injury to a child, as was 46-year-old Cristina Tijerina, the boy’s grandmother. Both women, Herrera, and the deceased lived in the same house.
David’s mother, Daisy Isabell Tijerina died on January 30, 2008.
Around 6:40 p.m. on a Monday afternoon, medics responded to the Edgefield Lane residence after a neighbor called 911 because members of the boy’s household knocked on her door asking for help.
The female neighbor, who asked her identity be withheld, ran to the home and began CPR on the boy. She later described him as “lying there…lifeless,” when she arrived.
MCHD medics transported the 3-year-old by ground ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in The Woodlands with CPR in progress, where he was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m.
