The Overland Park Police Department is asking for the public’s help
in locating a missing woman who authorities fear may be in danger.

Keighley Ann Alyea, 18, of Overland Park, was last seen at her home around
midnight on Tuesday. Police describe her as as 5 feet, 1 inch tall, 113
pounds with black hair and brown eyes. It is not known what she was
wearing when she disappeared. Police have interviewed two young men whom police had said previously may have been with Alyea.“Nobody’s
in custody. Nobody’s been arrested,” police spokesman Jim Weaver said
today. “We just needed to talk to them. They knew her and were friends.”Weaver
said police are particularly concerned about Alyea’s well-being because
she was the victim of domestic violence earlier in the week.“That’s certainly a factor, and that she’s been gone so long,” Weaver said.Police have checked Alyea’s phone records and found nothing that would indicate her whereabouts, Weaver said.Alyea’s
case has been entered into the FBI’s National Crime Information Center
database as a missing person who is possibly endangered. The missing woman drives a dark green Mazda 626 four-door with a Kansas license plate 198 BOV. Her car also is also missing. If you see Alyea, notify the Overland Park Police Department, the law
enforcement agency in the jurisdiction in which you saw her, or call
the TIPS Hotline, 816-474-TIPS.

Police in suburban Kansas City continue to talk with friends and family of a teenager who's been missing for nearly a week.

Overland Park police say 18-year-old Keighley Ann Alyea was reported missing Sept. 29.

A patrol officer located her car Sunday night and police say it's being processed for evidence.

She's described as 5-foot-1-inches tall, with black hair and brown
eyes. It's unknown what she was wearing when she was last seen at her
home.

Also on Sunday, police questioned a 22-year-old man about Alyea's
disappearance, but the man is not considered a suspect and was
released.

Poster's Note: Doesn't $25 grand sound a little high for a telephone harassment charge??? Sounds more like the want to keep this "person of interest" close to HQ...

A man questioned Sunday in the disappearance of 18-year-old Keighley
Ann Alyea is still being held in the Johnson County jail on a 2007
warrant for telephone harassment.

Sean Michael Merritt, 22, is being held for failure to appear on the charges with a $25,000 bond.

Overland Park police questioned Merritt on Sunday, but few details have been
released. Police say they took information from Merritt and were
tracking other leads.

Alyea was last seen late last Tuesday. Police say they consider the 18-year-old's disappearance "a
missing/possibly endangered person."

On Sunday, a police officer on patrol found Alyea's 1993 Mazda 626 parked
behind an apartment complex next to a dumpster near 62nd and Foster in Mission, Kansas.

Overland Park police spokesman Jim Weaver indicatesthat
the car is being processed for evidence and that should be done by the
end of the day. However, whatever the police find likely won't be made
public unless the Johnson County District Attorney's office gets
involved.

Keighley Ann Alyea

Alyea is described as 5-feet-1-inches tall, 113 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Police have already questioned two men -- Jaymes Beebe and
Dustin Hilt -- but released both after questioning. Beebe was being
held in the Johnson County jail on a prior disorderly conduct warrant,
but he bonded out the same day -- September 29 -- that he was brought
in.

Alyea's family has started a "Bring Keighley Ann Alyea Home!" Facebook page. They're also collecting money through all Kansas City branches of Commerce Bank for a reward. Alyea's uncle Ed Frentrop saysthat they're already collected $2,000.

Frentrop also saysthat he's heard that everyone questioned is being swabbed for DNA. He also
says that when Beebe showed up to help with a canvas, he was told to go
home.

Alyea's friends and family don't believe she had a
boyfriend at the time of her disappearance. They say she was living in
an apartment in Overland Park, working at an Arby's and taking classes
at Johnson County Community College. They also say it's totally out of
character for Alyea to not be in contact with her family and friends
for so long.

If you have any information about Alyea's disappearance, call the TIPS
Hotline at 816-474-8477 or the Overland Park Police at 913-895-6300.

KEIGHLEY - Found Deceased

Post by TomTerrific0420 on Tue Oct 06, 2009 1:32 am

Keighley Ann Alyea had been missing for almost a
week, since the last Tuesday. To locate her, the Overland Park police
had been on a thorough lookout, having launched a widespread search
through the whole week. Tragically, similar to the case of Annie Le,
the Yale student who had gone missing and was found dead later, the 18
year old Alyea too was found dead by the authorities.
Jim Weaver, the spokesman for the Overland Park police has revealed
to the press that Alyea’s body had been discovered on the night of Oct.
5, Monday. According to the revelations of Weaver, it has also come to
light that the police have also arrested three men in connection to the
death of the teen. The police had also been seen carrying out an
elaborate search on Monday evening, at a house located in 64th and
Melrose in Shawnee, that was supposedly in relation to the teen’s
murder.
The Overland Park police department has also released a statement
which is reported to state that all further information on the issue
would be delved on Tuesday by the Johnson County District Attorney
Steve Howe. Over the weekend, the vigil had yielded some results when
the authorities had been able to recover Alyea’s 1993 Mazda (dark
green), unoccupied and parked on 6200 block of Foster Street in Overland.

One of the men questioned in the disappearance of Keighley Ann Alyea
has been booked into the Johnson County jail on charges of first-degree
murder.

Dustin Brian Hilt, 18, is listed as being booked into
the Johnson County jail early Tuesday morning on first-degree murder
charges. He was questioned Hilt in Alyea's disappearance over the
weekend.

Two other men -- Joseph Dathian Mattox, 21, and Gerald
Scott Calbeck, 18 -- were booked into the Johnson County jail early
Tuesday morning on first-degree murder charges. It's not clear right
now if the charges are related to the death of Alyea, but police
announced Monday night that three men had been arrested in connection
with Alyea's death.

The body of Keighley Ann Alyea, the 18-year-old Overland Park woman
missing for almost a week, was found Monday evening in rural Cass
County, Overland Park police said today. The body was found about
9:30 p.m. in a farm field near the intersection of East 235th Street
and South State Route K Highway, police said.An autopsy is
scheduled for today at the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office,
the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reported today. They are working with
Overland Park police, they said. Three men arrested by police Monday are in jail awaiting formal charges in Johnson County, police said.Alyea
hadn’t been seen or heard from since about midnight last Tuesday. A
patrol officer found her 1993 dark green Mazda 626 over the weekend,
parked in the 6200 block of Foster Street in Overland Park. The officer
found the unoccupied car around 6 p.m. Sunday, and police towed it to
search for evidence, Weaver said. It was unclear how long the car had
been there.Alyea’s parents declined to comment Monday night.“I just broke the news to my 14-year-old daughter, one of her best
friends, who was actually supposed to be with her Tuesday night,” said
Alyea’s uncle, Eddie Frentrop. “I love my niece. I love my brother, and
right now we’re all hurting and we just want to have some peace and
quiet tonight so we can talk and love each other, and we should be
ready to talk in the morning.” Friends began posting comments
on the Facebook group “Bring Keighley Ann Alyea Home!” immediately
after police made the announcement. Some spoke directly to Keighley.“We all love and miss you, and I hope that you have a great life in heaven,” one poster wroteOthers sent condolences to her family.“Our thoughts and prayers are with Keighley’s family. May God bless you and comfort you in the days ahead.”The
night she was last seen, a friend and her baby slept in her room while
Alyea took the couch. That was typical — the 18-year-old didn’t like to
be alone, Alyea’s mother, Kelley Bastel, said earlier Monday.Police had been concerned that she had been in danger because she was
involved in a violent situation Sept. 28. When an ex-boyfriend and his
sister got into an argument that turned violent, Alyea intervened,
Weaver and her family said.Police had checked Alyea’s cell phone service but would not say when it was last used.“She
would get on the Internet every single day,” said her uncle, Ed
Frentrop, “and talk to people on Facebook and talk to people on her
phone and text people. She talked to her mom and dad every single day.
She talked to my daughter almost every single day through texting and
whatnot.“Then everything stopped.”Police on Monday were
interviewing residents who lived near where Alyea’s car was found and
checked trash containers in the area, Weaver said.Alyea’s
parents don’t know of any friends or acquaintances she had at the
apartment complex where her car was found, but her friends think she
did, Bastel said.Family and friends taped fliers on doors at
those apartments and then headed to the Overland Park apartment complex
on 87th Street where Alyea lived. Friends walked their own
neighborhoods to get the word out as widely as possible.“Remember
her name,” her mother implored. “Remember her face. Anything you know,
give us the information we need to find her and bring her home.”Bastel last talked with her daughter Sept. 28. They made plans to spend Thanksgiving together.

Three men have been charged in the death of 18-year-old Keighley Alyea.
Dustin
Hilt, Joseph Mattox and Gerald Calbeck were all charged with
first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping in Johnson County court
on Tuesday.Alyea disappeared a week ago and did not make contact
with either friends or family. Police found the body of the missing
18-year-old in a rural Cass County, Mo., field at around 9:30 p.m.
Police have not released what led them to search in the remote location.Police
had been searching two homes in Johnson County, Kan., earlier in the
day -- one in Overland Park and the other in Shawnee. Policed collected
evidence and took pictures at each of the scenes. One of the men
arrested is an 18-year-old who was interviewed a few days ago by
police. The other two men arrested are 18 and 21. None of the three has
been officially charged in this case."It just kind of shakes me
up," said Alyea's friend Jaymes Beebe. "I fell asleep for a little
while last night but I've been up ever since. I know they've been up --
everybody's been up all night. Just worried to death trying to find out
why and what happened. And where she was at and how they did it. And
why they did it, if we can get an explanation."One of Alyea's
friends told KCTV5's Shaun Broyls that one of the men arrested was
Alyea's ex-boyfriend and they were in an abusive relationship. The
body was found in a field near East 235th Street and State Route K just
north of Harrisonville. The public information officer for the Cass
County sheriff told KCTV5's Greg Adeline that the body was found near
the north fence line. The body was found about a quarter to a half mile
away from the roadway.

One of Keighley Alyea's best friends says that a man suspected
in her death had a history of violence while he was dating the
18-year-old.Jessika Beebe and her family said they are still in denial. They can't believe Alyea won't be part of their daily lives anymore."She didn't deserve it," said Beebe. "I've known that girl for five years. She's my best friend."
Beebe said that she wasn't surprised that Dustin Hilt was one of three
men charged with Alyea's slaying. She said Hilt and Alyea dated for
about two years and he was violent and controlling toward her."He's abusive,” Beebe said.
"He's so abusive. He beat her and she was scared of him."Last
Tuesday night, Beebe spent the night at Alyea's apartment and she said
she tried to warn her to stay away from Hilt. But she said her advice
was ignored. It was the last time Beebe saw her friend alive."I
knew Dustin had something to do with it from day one," she said. "When
I was at her house she was talking about going to get Dustin. I tried
to talk her out of it. I fell asleep and she left."Beebe wants answers about why this happened to the friend she said she had built a strong bond with."She was my sister," she said. "I never had one. I have four brothers and she was my sister."The three men charged in the case remain in the Johnson County Jail on $2 million bond each.

The father of one of the men charged with murdering 18-year-old Keighley Alyea is quoted as saying he is in
shock over the charges against his 18-year-old son."Its a helpless feeling," Derek Bohlken, father of Gerald Scott Calbeck, said.Bohlken said he's dealing with shock, pain and disbelief. His son was one of three men charged Tuesday with the murder of Alyea."He's 18 but he's still a kid to us," Bohlken said. "He's never been violent, never been in trouble. It's devastating."Bohlken says his son is a good student, has never been in trouble and had only met Alyea once."He cares about other people," Bohlken said. "He doesn't like violence. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"Bohlken said his son decided to spend the night with Dustin Hilt last week, not
knowing the heinous crime prosecutors prosecutors say followed. Now Bohlken's afraid Hilt and Mattox, who are cousins, are trying to pin the slaying on his son."Keep in mind innocent people go to jail all the time," Bohlken said. "Wrong place at the wrong time. Don't assume he's guilty."All three men are being held on $2 million bond each.
