RILEY TIDWELL - 20 months (2009) - Rockport TX

Three people have been arrested by Aransas County Sheriff's Deputies on charges of injury to a child.
The charges are related to the death of a 20-month-old boy. The
boy's mother, 27-year-old Tanya Tidwell, her boyfriend 22-year-old
Zachary Romero and a friend identified as Richard Garcia were arrested
in Rockport Thursday. Paramedics were called to a Rockport
home last Tuesday, when they arrived they found 20-month-old Riley
Tidwell unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy determined the boy died from blunt force trauma to the abdominal area.
The medical examiner said the injuries were so severe, they were consistent
with a fall from a two story building or a traffic accident. A search
of the home also turned up some drug paraphernalia.

I have been trying to find out if the Riley Tidwell case has been resolved. Does anyone know what has happened with his mother Tanya? I live in Ingleside Tx, just a few miles from Rockport. I appreciate it.

Updates:
Zachary Romero - plea deal; serving 20 years as he pleaded guilty to "injury of a child."
Tanya Tidwell - pleaded guilty of "injury to a child" and was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

I find it distressing (but common) that some times newspapers forget that updating the public is as important as covering the crime in the first place. It is all well and good to let us know about the suffering our most innocent members go through, but we need (I hate to use the word) 'closure' in terms of knowing if there was any kind of justice given to these victims.

Thank you Banditbird. I completely agree. Articles about the sentencing are often hard to find. I also find it frustrating that we are so often not informed when a missing child is found.
I'm going to move this thread to "ADJUDICATED" now, but we can still update it there if we find any other news.

Thank you Banditbird, I was having a hard time finding any updates on Riley in the Rockport paper, or even the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. I do find it appalling that the "mother" only got 5 years! It just seems like a slap on the wrist for her! jawdrop

We are checking into the story - the baby's last name may not be correct but it is what has been reported in the media.

I can't find anything under Tillman. The articles I can find have used the mothers name of Tidwell for Riley.
