Police are investigating the death of a 17-month-old
boy as the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services
investigates the family on allegations of neglect.Jordin Woods,
of the 12000 block of Vincennes Road in Blue Island, was found
unresponsive at home.
He was pronounced dead at MetroSouth Medical Center at 4:55 a.m. Friday,
according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.DCFS is
investigating allegations of neglect, DCFS spokesman Jimmie Whitelow
said.DCFS initially opened an investigation on allegations of
neglect in December 2009 after receiving a tip in September, Whitelow
said. The agency was working with the family to provide “supportive
services.”Another child in the family, Jordin’s sibling, is in
the care of a relative, Whitelow said.Blue Island Police could
not immediately provide information.

-- Police are investigating the death of a 17-month-old boy as the
Illinois Department of Children and Family Services investigates the
family on allegations of neglect.

Jordin Woods, of the 12100 block of Vincennes Rd. in Blue Island, was
found unresponsive at home. He was pronounced dead at MetroSouth Medical
Center at 4:55 a.m. Friday, according to the Cook County Medical
Examiner’s office.

A Saturday autopsy was inconclusive, pending a police investigation, the
medical examiner’s said.

DCFS is investigating allegations of neglect, DCFS spokesman Jimmie
Whitelow said.

DCFS initially opened an investigation on allegations of neglect in
December 2009 after receiving a tip in September, Whitelow said. The
agency was working with the family to provide “supportive services.”

Another child in the family, Jordin’s sibling, is in the care of a
relative, Whitelow said.

Blue Island Police did not return calls as of Saturday afternoon.

Samuel “Sonny” Pierce (27) of Blue Island, IL has been charged in the brutal rapes and slayings of three teenage women. While this is horrible, that doesn’t qualify him for a spot here with us. What does qualify him is, prior to his arrest for these crimes he was investigated in the May, 2010 death of his girlfriend’s 17-month-old toddler.
