VERO BEACH — An autopsy couldn’t determine the cause of death of an 18-month-old boy whose grandmother found him unresponsive in bed Saturday, according to sheriff’s reports.
Jonas Delmas, of the 4800 block of 29th Avenue, was pronounced dead at hour later, at 7:20 a.m., at the Indian River Medical Center.
Indian River Sheriff’s Office investigators attended the autopsy Monday and were told toxicology testing will have to be done to try to find the cause of death, said Detective Thom Raulen. The results of those tests will largely determine how investigators handle the case.
The child’s family is cooperating with law enforcement officials, Raulen said.
