hi rosey
welcome to the blog
LE has not released much information at this point - our experience with missing person cases is usually they do everything possible to eliminate the family first - so i believe at this point they have done that with her cooperation (hence no search warrant issued for the vehicle or home) and am sure they have created a timeline for her day - so far, we know she says she walked away from him at school at 8:45am - and then had some "errands" to run (no information released on those errands) and we also know she was posting pictures and playing games on facebook - based on the updates to her fb page. the next thing we know is that they went to meet him at the bus (news accounts say both parents) and he wasn't on it - they called the school, they may have called the non-emergency sheriff's line, and then a call was made to 911. I think LE arrived around 5pm based on news stories I have read, and they began the search.

At this point, one of 3 things could have happened:
wandered into the woods and is lost -
kidnapped at school and taken somewhere -
family took him and is hiding him or worse -

All JMHO and gleaned from news sources

Kyron Horman's family pleads, 'Don't give up hope'

Kyron Horman's aunt released the following statement on behalf of the family:
"On behalf of Kyron's family we would like to thank you. The
incredible support we've received is overwhelming. To the numerous
agency search and rescue teams there are no words to express the
gratitude we feel. You have worked tirelessly on Kyron's behalf and
continue to do so. At this point the most important thing is to get his
picture out there. We encourage if you would like to help this is what
you can do. Print out this flier and put it on the counter of every
business you can. Kyron needs to be seen. Above all don't give up as we
certainly never will."

Deputies Still Tight-Lipped About Details

So far, the
sheriff's office has released the following account of events in Kyron's
disappearance:Kyron and his stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman,
attended a school science fair Friday morning at Skyline School. She
last saw him at 8:45 a.m.Gates said the last confirmed sighting
of Kyron was at 9 a.m.Several hours passed before Kyron was
reported missing. He was supposed to be dropped off at the school bus stop near his
house at about 3:45 p.m. When he didn't show up, Moulton Horman called
the school, deputies said.School administrators conducted a quick
search of the school, deputies said, and they called the non-emergency
dispatch line to report Kyron as missing. The school district also used
its phone notification system to contact other parents and inform them
of Kyron's disappearance.Deputies started their search at 5:45
p.m. Since then, deputies said, an exhaustive search has been conducted
of the school -- even the roof -- and the woods surrounding the school
grounds.Sheriff Dan Staton said Kyron is being considered a
missing endangered child, but he has not called the case a kidnapping.

Kyron Horman's family pleads, 'Don't give up hope'

PORTLAND – Social media is having a growing impact on the breadth of the public effort to
spread the word about missing boy Kyron Horman and his family was also
using it as a way to keep in touch with relatives and friends.
Kyron’s step-mom, Terri Moulton Horman, has been reaching out for
help on Facebook by posting ongoing comments since his disappearance
last Friday.

Kyron Horman' Facebook page

People were also sharing words of support for the Horman family
through social media and Terri had responded to some of the comments,
including one that thanked everyone for helping however they could.
“It was great to be out yesterday with the detectives and to see a
flyer on a car in a parking lot. Every little bit helps. We will have
more flyers here today,” one of the online posting said.
Other than Facebook, several chat rooms, along with YouTube and
Twitter pages were filled with messages of courage and tips for
investigators.
Detectives also said they were following the online messages the best
they could, in search of possible clues to the boy’s whereabouts.
“They now go into Twitter, anything that people voluntarily put on
and becomes public record, they [detectives] can go in there and they
can access that information,” explained criminal expert Larry Rasson,
who is now retired from the Portland Police Bureau.
The story has gone viral online across the nation and the world.

Just took a look at his stepmom's facebook page and she is talking about "hitting the gym" and overall seems pretty lighthearted about this whole situation....personally I would be an absolute mess, and would NOT be thinking about going to the gym, chatting on facebook or playing video games! Every bit of my time would be spent SEARCHING, HANGING FLYERS and PRAYING until I knew something/ANYTHING!!! Does this seem strange to anyone else besides me??!!
I am praying for his safe return-oh dear Lord please be with him wherever he may be....

yes i can't imagine being on fb if my child were missing - except to encourage my friends to spread the word in the hopes that someone spots him, playing games, i just can't see that as normal behavior - but then again, i have never had a child go missing.

it still bothers me that le refuses to name who saw him at 9am at school -

and why didn't someone raise a flag when he wasn't present for the talent show?

why isn't LE more forthcoming?

http://www.kptv.com/kyron-horman/index.html

"We suspect he went missing on Friday." (jason gates)

Can you provide any clarification
about what time he was last seen and where?
Not at this time.

Clarify the timeline?"I can't answer your question completely, but I can say the last
point at which Kyron was seen was about 9:00 am on Friday morning ."

"
Was that within the school?"Yes

Was the last sighting by stepmom or someone else?"I'm not able to give those details."

why would he not be able to say who saw him at 9am?

I wish every police dept would have and take advantage of proven bloodhound search dogs. Bloodhounds are miracle dogs. They have a million times the scent capacity of humans and 60 times that of German shepherds. They can as easily follow the scent trail of the person whose scent they are started on, as we can follow, with our eyes, footprints in wet sand. Bloodhounds have successfully even followed the faint scent trail made from scent rafts carried out through the car ventilation system when the windows are rolled up.
