We're learning more about why a West Fargo man may have seriously hurt a 4-month old baby earlier this week. The
infant was taken to a Minneapolis hospital with a partially crushed
windpipe and a collapsed lung. Police say 20-year-old Lawrence St.
John, Junior was trying to quiet the infant so he could have sex with
the child's mother, his girlfriend of 2 months. He's
charged with aggravated assault in Cass County Court. According to
Court records, St. John first told police the boy fell off the bed, but
then said he picked up the baby by his throat, threw him face-down on
the bed, then picked him up by the back of the neck and shoved him onto
the floor. Bail for St. John is set at $50-thousand dollars.
