MURDER CHARGE: A first degree murder charge has been filed against a Des Moines man for the death of his 4-month-old daughter in Ankeny this July

A Des Moines man is charged with murder in the death of his 4-month-old daughter this summer.

Twenty-year-old Ryan Trowbridge is accused of causing fatal injuries to his daughter Rylee on the morning of July 12th. At the time, Ryan Trowbridge and his daughter lived in Ankeny.

Ankeny Police say they received a call about a non-breathing infant at 1210 SE Belmont Street at 10:39 a.m. on July 12th. Police say Trowbridge told them his daughter had been laid down for a nap and he found her blue and unresponsive.

Rylee Trowbridge was taken to Iowa Methodist Hospital where she died.

Autopsy reports show Rylee suffered head injuries that were inconsistent with the story Ryan Trowbridge told them. The report says the damage was "suggestive of inflicted trauma causing subarachnoid hemorrhaging."

Ryan Trowbridge is being held in the Polk County Jail on a bond of $500,000.
